Registration for French Immersion at Vista Hills for 2016/2017

If a Senior Kindergarten (2015/16 school year) student is in the Vista Hill Public School Boundary and would like to register for French Immersion in Grade 1, what are his/her options?

Phase 1 of the French Immersion registration process for the 2016/17 school year runs between January 7 and January 31, 2016. On the registration form, input the following information:

  • Current School: select the school the student is attending in 2015/16 (e.g., Edna Staebler PS or Cedarbrae PS)
  • School Information, First Choice (Home School): Select “Vista Hills PS” from the drop-down if the student does not have an older sibling already in French Immersion. If the student has an older sibling registered in French Immersion, select the school where the sibling is attending.
  • Second Choice (Optional): select a school from the drop-down list – note overcrowded sites that cannot accept out of boundary students will not be listed here (e.g., Edna Staebler, Laurelwood and Empire Public Schools will not be on the list)
  • Third Choice (Optional): select a school from the drop-down list – note overcrowded sites that cannot accept out of boundary students will not be listed here

Once all registrations are received, a determination will be made if a Grade 1 French Immersion class will be formed at Vista Hills Public School in 2016/17. If a class is not formed, students will be placed in the second or third choice schools according to the process outlined in Administrative Procedure 1000.

Students who have not registered prior to January 31, 2016 may register up to October 2016, however space in the program may be limited and students may be placed on a wait list.
