November 19th, 2016
November 21 to 25 is Anti-Bullying Awareness Week – a time for us to further emphasize the importance of EMPATHY and living our daily affirmation which states: “At Vista Hills, we show empathy. We understand, share and feel the emotions of others.”
This week we will highlight the importance of acting on this commitment through public service announcements that will be shared each day during our morning announcements and opening exercises. These public service announcements have been created by our grade seven students for the rest of our student body.
On Wednesday November 23 we will also celebrate our first WEAR PINK DAY in support of an initiative that began a number of years ago in Nova Scotia (http://pinkshirtday.ca/about-us/). We will celebrate WEAR PINK DAY on February 22, 2017 as well as this coming Wednesday.
In addition, classes at VH will focus their class meetings on anti-bullying awareness messages, and our Media Literacy discussion will continue to focus on the importance of looking at life through other peoples’ perspectives, as well as our own perspective.
Thank you for sharing this message at home in your family meetings and family discussions!
